How to extend the plastic mould life?

Plastic mould manufacturing is a step from design, processing, assembly, adjustment, correction and finally can be put into practical use. What will influence the mould life?

1. Mould steel

The most important factor is the mould steel quality, the right mould steel is the top priority. This is the top priority in determining the life of plastic molds.

2. Mould steel surface treatment

The surface treatment of mold steel is also very important. Nitriding can enhance the surface hardness of steel and effectively extend the life of the mold. Electroplating can effectively modify the mold steel. For some high-brightness and corrosion-resistant plastic parts, it can be strengthened by electroplating. And improve the performance of steel.

3. Mould design

The mature mold structure not only considers the product material properties, shrinkage rate, molding temperature, elastic tensile deformation coefficient, etc., but also considers the cooling water passage, the speed of opening and closing the mold etc. Reasonable mold structure can effectively extend the life of the mold and ensure the smooth production of the mold. Improve efficiency and reduce costs.

4. Mould processing process

If a worker wants to do something good, he must first sharpen his tools. The arrangement of plastic mold technology is particularly important. Reasonable process arrangement can speed up the production cycle, shorten the processing time and save costs. And more importantly, accurate and reasonable processing can ensure the stability and longevity of the mold during the production process. 5. Standard parts

It is the shortest piece of wood that determines the capacity of the bucket. This is understood by everyone, but it is often not noticed when doing it. The mold is the same, although the standard parts are not directly involved in the molding, but control the operation of the entire mold. Good standard parts should be wear-resistant, hard enough, high precision, not easy to deform.

6. Polishing and engraving

The polishing of the mold is the last step in the manufacture of the mold. Polishing is directly reflected on the plastic parts, so this is the most face-to-face job. Polishing also helps and complements the mold movement, especially for demolding. 

7. Plastic mould assembly

Mold assembly is like assembling a machine. Every component and every screw can't go wrong. Otherwise, the consequences will be quite serious. Lightness will lead to product defects, affecting production, and completely damage the mold and cause scrapping. Therefore, the assembly work must be very detailed. Especially in the assembly process, pay attention to the cleaning work of the mold, especially the water circuit and screw holes. Be sure to blow off the iron filings inside, otherwise the customer will be very angry.

8. Mould cooling 

Anyone with experience in mold knows how important cooling is to a mold. Due to the increase in prices and labor wages, it is unthinkable to reduce the profit from the one-second injection cycle when mass-produced products. However, when the production cycle is accelerated, the temperature of the mold will rise. If it is not effectively controlled, the mold will be too hot to be formed, and even the mold deformation will be scrapped. Therefore, excellent waterway design is especially important, including the arrangement density of waterways, diameters, links between each other, etc.

9. Mold maintenance

Maintenance is one of the important factors for mould life, so every time after mould use, it must be fully maintained, especially the rust prevention of the molded part, the rust prevention of the main action parts. Water will be exposed to the mold during the production, especially during the installation or disassembly process. Therefore, the mold must be dried when the period of the deactivation is long. After cleaning the mold, must brush it with oil or anti-rust oil.
